Who
are you? Why are you doing this?
I'm
English and my wife is American and we live in Slovenia with our
daughter. We are trying to learn the language here but also need to
pick up some Italian and German as well . I tried to find some kids
books that were in English, Slovene, Italian and German (we live
close to the Italian/Austrian border,) with the same story but I
couldn't find any.
As
we read to our daughter every night I thought it would be neat if we
could read her the same story to her in all 4 languages, accompanied
by the pictures it would help her (and us!) with language
acquisition.
Looking
further into bilingual book market, you often find books for the
English/French or English/Spanish markets. But there is a often a
shortage of books (or none at all) in the Slovene/Italian or
Italian/German market.
We
know of many people out there who might like to have a book to teach
their child a new language – a Swede who studied French for
example. So that is how this project took off.
